Before coming to Iraq, Indian nationals usually need a visa. The Embassy of Iraq in India does not issue tourist visas and Indian travellers may only visit the country on business, employment, or religious visas with relevant visas obtained in advance. Among the documents normally needed are the following:

• Authentic Indian passport that has a minimum of six months between the scheduled entry date.
• Signed and completed visa application forms.
• Four recent colour passport-size photographs that meet the specifications of visa photos.
• Confirmed onwards or return tickets.
• Evidence of accommodation booking e.g. bookings to the hotel or invitation letter by Iraqi hosts.
• Most recent bank statements or other financial records that will prove that you have enough money.
• Depending on purpose, employment or business invitation letters, or religious pilgrimage letters.
• Security clearance or registration at Indian diplomatic missions in Iraq can be imposed.
• Yellow fever vaccination certificate and other health certifications, where applicable.
